Built for the Shop Floor
Andrew has always had a passion for how things work — engines, machines, and the satisfaction of fixing what's broken. In August 2024 he enrolled in the Associate of Science in Diesel Mechanics program at Ventura County Community College, with a focus on Diesel Engine Repair and Medium and Heavy Duty Vehicle Repair.
Along the way, he's earned an impressive set of certifications and training: Forklift Certification through Ventura County Community College; Basic Air Brake Training with Bendix; Medium and Heavy Duty Truck Training through Daimler; and Driveline Balancing and Diagnostics through Meritor. He also plans to complete his CDL this summer — and the list keeps growing.
He will officially graduate in December 2026, but the bulk of his coursework will be completed this spring. He's not waiting around — in December 2025 he began interning part-time at Gibbs International Truck Centers in Oxnard, a full-service dealership specializing in International and Isuzu trucks serving Central California. Working alongside ASE certified mechanics on medium and heavy duty vehicles, he's been putting his classroom training to work in a real shop environment. This summer and fall he's ready to step into full-time work and interning — but to do that, he needs his own tools. That's where you come in.
As any mechanic will tell you, your tools are everything — they're your livelihood, your craft, and your calling card. You can sponsor a tool from his registry using gift cards to Harbor Freight or Home Depot, or with a cash gift via Venmo, Apple Pay, or check. Best of all, Andrew is able to leverage his student discount with several vendors — meaning every dollar you contribute stretches even further toward building his toolbox.
